The Malawi Olympic Committee conducted an Athletes Commission Workshop at Mzuni Hotel in Mzuzu under the theme “Safe Sport, Education and Life After Sport,” aimed at empowering athletes with knowledge and opportunities that support their development both on and off the field of play.
The workshop was facilitated by Malawi Olympic Committee Director General, Mrs Naomie Chinatu, IOC Safeguarding Officer, Mr Misheck Banda and Malawi Athletes Commission Chairperson, Ms. Asimenye Simwaka.
Making the opening remarks, Malawi Olympic Committee Executive Board Member, Mr James Kaunda, emphasised the importance of athletes actively participating in sports development initiatives and making the most of the opportunities available to them. He reaffirmed that athletes are at the heart of sport in Malawi and have an important role to play in shaping its future.
The workshop attracted participants from different sporting disciplines with the aim of promoting safe sport, pursue educational opportunities, enhance Athletes’ personal development and prepare for life beyond competitive sport.
