Commonwealth Games Association of Malawi has unveiled a 24-member national team that will represent the country at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, from 23 July to 2 August, 2026.

The squad comprises athletes from five sporting disciplines: netball, athletics, swimming, boxing and judo.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony in Lilongwe on Friday, Minister of Youth and Sports, Alfred Gangata, challenged Team Malawi to make history by winning the country’s first-ever Commonwealth Games medal.

Malawi National Council of Sports Acting Chief Executive Officer, Ivy Chinangwa, described the team’s participation as a milestone for the country.

The netball team is expected to depart for Glasgow on 14 July 2026, the swimming and boxing teams will depart on 20 July, the athletics team on 23 July, while the Judo team will leave the country on 27 July 2026.
