The Malawi Olympic Committee (MOC), in partnership with the Hockey Association of Malawi, has successfully trained over 50 hockey coaches in Lilongwe and Mzuzu as part of the ongoing Hockey Development of National Sports Systems (DNSS) Course. Held from October 21st to 30th, 2025, the training aimed to equip coaches with the knowledge, skills, and techniques needed to strengthen hockey development in Malawi.
MOC Board Member, James Kaunda, commended the participants for their commitment, urging them to apply their new skills to promote hockey in their communities. Participant Innocencia Chibambo described the course as valuable, saying it provided practical knowledge and confidence to improve their coaching.
The DNSS Course, funded by Olympic Solidarity and facilitated by FIH Expert, Mr. Zahid Ali, was officially launched in Lilongwe by MOC President, Hon. Jappie Mhango. The course aims to build the capacity of technical officials and coaches across Malawi.
Following the success of the sessions in Lilongwe and Mzuzu, the MOC remains committed to ensuring equal opportunities for coaches from all regions and fostering the growth of hockey nationwide. The course will continue for six months, with supervision by Benjamin Chaura, and conclude a final assessment by the expert.
