The Malawi OlympAfrica Centre successfully conducted a Sustainability Workshop aimed at raising environmental awareness among young people while promoting education through sport at the OlympAfrica Center in Lilongwe. The workshop brought together young people from surrounding communities across the center and focused on practical actions that link sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Participants took part in a hands-on environmental clean-up exercise. Guided by volunteers, the children walked through a nearby open area, collecting plastic, glass and other waste materials found in the environment. Working in small teams, they gathered and sorted the waste into different containers for recycling, turning the activity into an engaging and educational experience.
This clean-up activity was designed to expose participants to the reality of environmental pollution within their communities and to highlight the large amount of waste that often goes unmanaged. Through this exercise, the young participants gained a deeper understanding of the importance of proper waste disposal, recycling and caring for the environment as part of building a sustainable future.
