Malawi CGA formally known as Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association of Malawi today, received a sponsorship of MWK100 million from FDH Bank plc towards Team Malawi’s preparations for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Receiving the sponsorship on behalf of the Organisation Major General Francis Kakhuta Banda the Vice President of Malawi CGA who is also the Chef de Mission (CDM) commended FDH Bank for the support.

“Your support sends a powerful message that corporate Malawi believes in a potential of young men and women. You have chosen to stand with Team Malawi during a critical period of preparation for that, we are deeply grateful.”said Kakhutabanda

Speaking on behalf of FDH Bank, Daniel Pinto Khamula said the sponsorship reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting sports development in Malawi.

“For us, investing in sports is a natural responsibility and a national duty. As the bank continues to grow, we also want to see the nation grow with us. We believe in actively participating in initiatives that positively impact our society, and supporting Team Malawi is one way of inspiring and empowering our athletes to achieve excellence on the international stage,” said Khamula.

The sponsorship comes as Team Malawi intensifies preparations for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, where the country’s athletes will compete with the aim of winning medals and raising the Malawi flag high on the international stage.

Among those in attendance at the sponsorship presentation ceremony were the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture Mr. Jameson Ndalama officials and the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Malawi National Council of Sports Madam Ivy Kondowe Chinagwa and Malawi CGA representatives.
