Ministry of Youth and Sports has urged Malawian athletes to fight honours when they compete at the 13th Edition of Africa Games slated 8 to 23 March 2024 in Accra, Ghana. The Principal Secretary for sports Isaac Katopola was speaking said the send – off ceremony was held at Sunbird Lilongwe Hotel on 4th March 2024. Katopola urged athletes to raise the country’s flag.
“It is important for a nation to showcase talent to the world through participation in international competitions. This is the only way we can assess ourselves to see if we are doing things right”.

Malawi sent 10 athletes who will compete at the Africa Games in Ghana, Accra. The Team Manager, Ruth Mzengo announced 5 coaches that have been training the athletes as follows: Yona Walesi (Swimming), Typen Kamanga (Taekwondo), Pachisi Nyasulu (Athletics), Cassim Makwinja (Boxing) and Alfred Linguni (Judo).
The team is composed of 10 athletes namely, Asimenye Simwaka and Stein Lifa( in athletics) , Elias Bonzo ndi Lewis Zakeyu (Boxing), Luka Smit and Tayamika Chang’anamuno (swimming) Chikondi Kathewera and Olivia Chikwapula ( Judo), Vesta Banda and Joseph Phiri to compete in Taekwondo.
The team Doctor is Dr. Sellah Msimuko and the Team leader is Joseph Mazaza.
The team left on 5th March, 2023 through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA).
